About History of CASK

Welcome to the Cricket Association of Seraikela-Kharsawan (CASK). As the official governing body for all cricketing activities within the Seraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand, we are proudly affiliated with the Jharkhand State Cricket Association. Our dedication lies in fostering and promoting the sport of cricket at every level, from grassroots development to competitive district-level play, which also includes managing the Seraikela-Kharsawan cricket team.

Our History and Evolution

The journey of the Cricket Association of Seraikela-Kharsawan is closely linked with the administrative changes that shaped our region. Before the year 2000, our district was part of undivided Bihar. A fundamental transformation of the administrative landscape was seen with the historic bifurcation of Bihar and the creation of the new state of Jharkhand in November 2000.

Following this partition, Seraikela-Kharsawan was carved out as a distinct district; it was formerly part of the vast West Singhbhum district. This restructuring not only redefined geographical boundaries but also necessitated the reorganization of various administrative and sporting bodies.

In line with these changes, our cricket association also evolved. What was once known as the West Singhbhum District Cricket Association was transitioned into the Cricket Association of Seraikela-Kharsawan to reflect the new district’s identity. A pivotal moment in our history was seen when S.K. Behra (MD RSB Group) took on the responsibility as the first President of the association, providing crucial leadership in its formative years. He served for over 10 years, until 2011. Simultaneously, Pravir Kumar emerged as a key figure, becoming the first Honorary General Secretary of the newly formed Cricket Association of Seraikela-Kharsawan.

Following S.K. Behra’s tenure, Arvind Singh (Malkhan Singh), a former MLA, became the President of CASK. He holds the distinction of being the longest-serving President of the association, leading for 13 years until 2024. After his remarkable tenure, Dr. Ajay Kumar, a retired Scientific Officer-H from the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, was given the responsibility as the new President of CASK and is currently serving in this role.

In the role of Honorary General Secretary, Pravir Kumar served his first tenure until 2019. After his initial term, Prashant Kumar was elected as the new Honorary General Secretary of CASK and served until 2024. As a testament to his dedication, Pravir Kumar was re-elected for the post and is currently serving as the Honorary General Secretary once again.

Since its official establishment in 2001, the Cricket Association of Seraikela-Kharsawan has been at the forefront of identifying and nurturing cricketing talent, organizing tournaments, and providing a platform for aspiring cricketers to achieve their potential. We remain deeply committed to upholding the spirit of cricket and contributing to the sport’s continued success in our district and the state of Jharkhand.
